Passenger disruption amid G20 security measures

Amid stringent security measures implemented at New Delhi Railway Station for the upcoming G20 summit from September 8 to September 10, passengers find themselves facing confusion and inconvenience due to a wave of train cancellations and diversions by the Northern Railway.

As the G20 summit approaches, the Northern Railway has taken the decision to either cancel or divert a significant number of trains, leaving passengers in a state of uncertainty. So far, approximately 310 trains have been affected by these alterations, and railway officials have assured passengers of full ticket refunds for the canceled trains.

Notable cancellations and diversions

Several prominent train services have fallen victim to these changes, including the Kalka-Delhi Express Special, Ambala-Delhi Express Special, New Delhi-Jalandhar City Express, Amritsar-New Delhi Express, and Jalandhar City-New Delhi Express, among others. These disruptions have left travelers searching for alternative transportation options.

While railway authorities have promised full refunds for passengers affected by these changes, numerous travelers have reported receiving only partial refunds for their canceled tickets. This discrepancy has added to the frustration and inconvenience faced by passengers caught up in the chaos.

With trains canceled or diverted, some passengers have opted for direct taxi services as an alternative means of reaching the national capital. Others have considered taking buses, although they remain uncertain about whether these buses will be permitted to cross into Delhi and what specific guidelines have been issued by the Delhi Traffic Police in this regard.
